Pupil Voice

We are very proud of the important contribution our pupils make to the life of the school through our School Council, Eco Warriors and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

We have an active School Council with two elected members from each class. Meeting regularly throughout the year, the School Council addresses issues that matter to our children and has a real impact on developing and improving their experience of life at Dunalley. When engaging with issues, such as the organisation of playtimes and the food enjoyed at lunchtime, our councillors meet with the appropriate stakeholders in order to present their ideas and effect change. The School Council empowers our children to apply our values of caring for each other and the environment by selecting causes to support through fundraising initiatives, which they arrange and promote. Events have included national charities, such as Jeans for Genes Day; local charities, such as the Hamper Scamper appeal, which provides food for families in need during Christmas; and a bring and buy sale to raise funds for wildlife projects in Australia following the recent wildfires.

At Dunalley, each class elects two representatives to serve as Eco Warriors for the year. Meeting as a committee every month, the Eco Warriors select and promote green initiatives around our school. Recent campaigns have included cycling to school, recycling batteries and cables, the RSPB Wild Challenge, Switch Off Fortnight and regular litter picks.

At Dunalley we have a team of children that act as Anti-Bullying AmbassadorsThese pupils are trained to help educate their peers on bullying, lead on anti-bullying campaigns, promote a culture which celebrates and tolerates difference. On the playground, our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors help to promote positive playtimes.
